Audio/Video Solutions for SCART
Maxim offers innovative and low-power SCART switches for set-top box applications.
Lowest Power
The audio and video circuits of Maxim's latest SCART products operate entirely from 3.3V, rather than from 5V and 12V like competing products. Maxim's SCART ICs:
- Detect activity on the CVBS inputs
- Detect loads on the CVBS output and the level of slow-switch signals
- Use I²C to tell a microcontroller to power up or power down other components
DirectDrive® Eliminates Audio Click & Pop Noise
With DirectDrive, the DC bias of the audio line outputs is always at ground, no matter whether the STB is being powered up or powered down.
Conventional audio line output drivers which operate from a single supply require series AC-coupling capacitors. During power-up or -down, the DC bias on this capacitor moves between ground and a positive voltage causing an audible transient.
